2005-03-06 the werd-nerd well, monday will commence in two hours...and i have not finished a paper (a fascinating one) that was due last Thursday...now, isn't that a typical college comment...i'm feeling a strange mix of super-stressed and overly-calm about it (and the combination of its lateness with the trillion other assignments i have to do)...i actually like this state of being (but not quite only be-ing)...i just hope it holds up... you know, it is very weird to have so much fascinating stuff to do for school...cause even when i'm in the depths of working on it, i feel like i'm cheating cause it's so interesting...and then, the flipside of that is that there is SO MUCH SO MUCH SO MUCH of it that it gets phenomenally overwhelming at times...hmmmmm...good thing i'm taking a break, eh? so, since i have become attached to "WORD!" as some of you may have noticed, i feel it is now appropriate for me to identify a newly discovered word that i feel is as worthy of use as the word "WORD" itself...(i will admit a striking fondness for dictionaries which is most likely genetic, as a parent of mine has told of a childhood literary life spent sneaking away from librarians to find dictionaries to wade through...furthermore, pixi-dust and i have developed a new favourite game...it consists of me doing my reading for school, finding words that i don't know, looking them up in the dictionary, and then (outloud) trying to use them in a sentence...then pd tries to guess what the word means...this game is honestly the new definition of fun, kids...no joke) PICARESQUE: "designating or of sharp-witted vagabonds, and their adventures" ok, now really, what word is not cool when it has the words 'sharp-witted', 'vagabonds' and 'adventures' in its definition...need i say more? |
